I knew ahead of time that sharing a coffee with author, Laura Greaves, would be a lot of fun. You see, I’d met her before and knew that she had a great sense of humour and had been working on some seriously interesting books that involved dogs (I mean….you can’t go wrong knowing that conversation is going to include dog stories). I initially met Laura about 18 months ago, after answering a call-out to provide expert opinion on returning to the workforce / changing careers following motherhood, and she subsequently did some recon by coming undercover to an appointment with me and writing a wonderful article that included a feature on my career advice (I admit, I got a bit teary because it was pretty cool to discover that – and THANK GOD I was in good form for her undercover appointment!)
Laura is an award winning journalist, editor, author, is heavily involved with a variety of groups working to promote local writers, and has had two new books published in as many months - she’s a busy woman! Outside of work she’s mum to two adorable Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers and one very bright little human, wife to a lucky man, friend to many, lover of vintage dresses, and overall animal advocate.
Laura and I covered a LOT of ground over our coffee! I particularly love her explanation that partnership and equality in a true adult relationship involves partnership around the home too, including sharing the cleaning and jobs that no one wants to do – couldn’t agree more! As you can hear from the noise throughout the recording, we were in the lively, very cool setting of The Bunker at Springwood in the NSW Blue Mountains – so sit back with your own cuppa and enjoy!
You can follow Laura on Instagram @lauragreavesauthor and Facebook @lauragreaveswritesbooks. Grab her newest book Dogs with Jobs at all good booksellers, or like me, enjoy her first novel Be My Baby – seriously, it’s full of humour, warmth, and a few twists!
